Mirror, Mirror, What do I See

A positive self-image is something many of us women lack, especially when we are bombarded with the media's portrayal of beauty.  Sadly those perfectly airbrushed bodies on magazine covers are what young girls and women aspire to look like.  And why not! When they are being told a healthy size 10 is considered to be plus size! This mentality, this way of living is what pushes young girls into deadly eating disorders and one to many plastic surgery procedures.  We all look in the mirror and instantly we citizen ourselves, we focus on what we consider to be flaws.  "My nose is too big, I hate my freckles, my breast are too small, my thighs are too big, my hair is to thin," and so on and so forth.  We begin to inflict self-hate, poisoning our minds against ourselves. Hoping to look like something we're not, hoping to look like somebody else.

Today I want to tell you that you are beautiful!  You were created in Gods image, and God creates masterpieces.  You are one of a kind; there is no one like you! Own your distinctive beauty, show yourself love again and accept the way you are in all its glory. There is no such thing as flaws, for nothing is made perfect, only unique.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to look better, but if you cannot love yourself the way you are now, how will you love yourself when you improve? First accept who you are, and how you look and then begin to change what you can and enjoy the journey to a better you.

I too struggle with my image being overweight, however I never felt discussed by it, the weight simply limited me when it comes to certain fashions and affected me health wise and those are the reasons I am making changes to better myself. I love myself regardless, I  was sexy and beautiful at 140 pounds and I am still sexy and beautiful at 200 + pounds, yes I said it, I'm over 200 pounds, I am not afraid to share my truths with you, I want to encourage you.  Together lets step into the New Year with a new mind set.  Change starts from within, you know how painful it is when someone, especially someone close to you says hurtful things to you regarding your appearance "you're ugly, your fat," etc., so why do we do it to ourselves?  Every day I want you to look in the mirror and say something good about yourself, give yourself a compliment, show yourself some love, make yourself feel good, you deserve it and there is no better person to do it than you.
