Although Oily skin does have its benefits when it comes to
pre-mature aging, it can be a drag to deal with when wearing makeup, especially
in the hot smoldering heat of the summer time. Melting makeup, running off your
face is uncomfortable and not a good look. Here are some key steps & tips
to prevent a total makeup melt down.
1) Start with a three step skin care system infused with
glycolic acids, which cut down on excess oil.
After cleansing and toning use an oil free moisturizer. Although you have oily skin, you should never
skip this step.
2) Prep your skin with a mattifying gel primer, this will
minimize pores, absorb excess oil and control oiliness throughout the day. I recommend our Camera Ready face primer
.Apply a small amount to clean skin, it minimizes the appearance of fine lines,
smoothes skin texture, keeps oil and shine at bay and keeps foundation in
place, leaving you with a matte, silky smooth finish.
3) Cut down on eye makeup creasing, by using an eye primer
designed to make your eye shadow last.
I recommend Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Apply before your eye shadow for more vibrant crease free color that
lasts for 24 hours. Keep the application
light and simple, avoid heavy eye liner and stick to waterproof mascara.
4) Invest in makeup products (especially foundation and
blush) that are oil-free and non-comedogenic, which means they don't clog your
pores. Stick to long wear, waterproof,
water resistant makeup especially when it comes to the eyes.
5) Use a translucent powder to blot excess oil and to set
makeup to leave a soft matte finish.
However don`t overdo the powder, as it can backfire and make your pores
push out more oil, which will then cause your makeup to oxidize and look darker
than it is as well as make it look cakey. Another great way to stay fresh is to
use blotting sheets to blot access oil throughout the day. Blotting sheets can be easily popped into any
bag and ready to go. Having a clean makeup sponge on hand as well, can be used
to smooth out any creasing that may happen as the day goes by.
I hope these tips and techniques will help you beat the
melting makeup battle this spring/summer.
